Dingle

Camphill Dingle is a vibrant, rural residential service supporting adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling, connected lives within a beautiful and inclusive coastal setting. Located in Doonsheane, Dingle, Co. Kerry, the community forms part of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s unique person-centred model of shared living, working and learning. 

Set amidst the stunning landscape of the Dingle Peninsula, and within close reach of some of Ireland’s most beautiful beaches, the community offers a rich and nurturing environment where residents are closely connected to nature, farming and community life. 

The community provides a homely and supportive environment in its residential house , Tearmann an tSolais, where residents are encouraged to develop independence, build relationships and pursue their personal goals within a close-knit and welcoming setting. 

Life in Dingle is active, creative and deeply connected to the local community. Residents engage in a wide range of meaningful activities both on-site and throughout the wider Dingle area. 

Activities include: Farming and gardening, Arts and creative programmes, Community outings and day trips, Cinema and bowling, Participation in local events and markets 

A key feature of the community is its strong connection to local life, with residents regularly participating in the Dingle Farmers’ Market, selling fresh produce grown on-site. This provides valuable opportunities for skill-building, social interaction and community inclusion. 

The community includes an on-site Day Support Service, Sonas, where residents take part in arts, crafts and group activities in a dedicated day activities space. Farming is central to life in Dingle, with residents engaging in a variety of land-based activities including caring for animals such as chickens and participating in horticulture and gardening projects. 

Residents are highly active and engaged in Camphill’s wider initiatives, including the Voices Group, and regularly participate in social outings and community-based activities. The community also benefits from strong local support, including partnerships and funding from local initiatives such as Bright Dingle. 

With its combination of residential supports, farming life, creative expression and strong community connections, Camphill Community Dingle supports each individual to live a full and enriched life, one rooted in belonging, participation and the beauty of its coastal surroundings.
