Camphill The Bridge is a vibrant, town-based residential service supporting adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling, connected lives within a welcoming and inclusive community. Located on Main Street in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare (Eircode: R56 T744), the community forms part of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s unique person-centred model of shared living, working and learning.
Set along the banks of the River Liffey, The Bridge offers a unique and enriching environment that blends residential living with nature, community and opportunity. The site features a beautifully developed public nature trail, open to the wider community, where visitors can enjoy scenic walks alongside grazing sheep and lambs, creating a peaceful and inclusive shared space at the heart of Kilcullen.
The community includes two residential houses and shared spaces such as a large community hall, providing a homely and supportive environment where residents are encouraged to develop independence, build relationships and actively participate in community life.
A key feature of The Bridge is its strong connection to the Northern Region Day Support Services, which are based on-site. While operating as a standalone service, residents have direct access to a wide range of meaningful programmes and also attend additional Day Supports in Grangebeg and Dunshane, further expanding their opportunities for engagement and development.
Day Support activities include: Cookery and life skills, Social gardening and social farming, Arts and crafts, Weaving and basketry, Community outings and recreational activities
Residents are highly active and engaged, regularly participating in a variety of programmes and initiatives including the Camphill Choir, local drama groups, Men’s Sheds and wider community events. The community is deeply embedded in the life of Kilcullen, with strong local support networks that promote inclusion, friendship and active citizenship.
At the entrance to the community, a café operates as a valued social enterprise, offering opportunities for residents to gain work experience and develop practical employment skills within a real working environment.
