The Watergarden is one of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s most recognised and creative Day Opportunites services, known throughout the region for its public café, gardens, gallery and welcoming community atmosphere. Guided by the HSE New Directions framework, programmes are designed to support confidence, independence and meaningful participation through creativity, hospitality and connection to nature. 

The Watergarden combines practical learning, artistic expression and community engagement within a vibrant town setting where every person’s contribution is valued and celebrated.

Creativity, Learning and Everyday Opportunity

Every programme at The Watergarden is designed to support confidence, creativity and meaningful participation. Through hospitality, horticulture, artistic expression and wellbeing supports, individuals are empowered to develop skills, explore interests and actively participate within community life. 

Creativity

Café Training and Community Connection

The public café is the heart of The Watergarden — a lively and welcoming training environment where individuals develop customer service, barista and teamwork skills while engaging directly with the local community. 

Independence

Cookery, Nutrition and Everyday Living Skills

The large training kitchen supports learning in baking, menu planning, food preparation and nutrition while helping individuals build confidence and independence through practical shared experiences. 

Nature

Creative Arts, Gallery Work and Expression

The bright Art Room and Gallery provide inspiring creative spaces where individuals explore painting, drawing and craftwork. Finished pieces are exhibited and sold through the gallery and shop, celebrating creativity and active citizenship. 

Land & Nature

Gardening, Orchards and Sustainable Living

The gardens, orchard and greenhouses are alive with flowers, herbs and seasonal produce. Participants learn organic growing, biodiversity and harvesting while helping produce ingredients for the café, kitchen and Garden Shop. 

Community

Music, Recreation and Creative Wellbeing

Music sessions, creative arts, drumming, dance and quiet relaxation spaces support a culture of wellbeing, expression and joyful participation. The Quiet Room provides calm spaces that support comfort, balance and self regulation.
