Camphill Callan is a vibrant, town-based residential service supporting up to 13 adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling, creative and connected lives within an inclusive community setting. Located on Lower Bridge Street in Callan, Co. Kilkenny (Eircode: R95 HE17), the community forms part of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s unique person-centred model of shared living, working and learning.
Situated in the heart of Callan town, the community offers residents the opportunity to fully engage with local life, with strong connections to local amenities, services and social opportunities. Residents are active participants in their community, promoting inclusion, independence and meaningful engagement.
The community provides a homely and supportive environment across a range of residential settings, The Granary (including an upstairs apartment), a standalone apartment at the KCAT Arts Studio site, the O’Regan apartments, Garden Cottage, and Moe’s House, where residents are encouraged to develop independence, build relationships and pursue their personal goals.
A defining feature of life in Callan is its strong focus on creativity and the arts. Residents are highly engaged in a variety of Day Support Services across the Southern Region, including Slievenemon, The Watergarden, and The Journeyman, offering a wide range of opportunities for learning, development and participation.
Day Support activities include: Arts and creative programmes,Cookery and life skills, Social farming and horticulture, Community outings and recreational activities
Residents are also actively involved in KCAT Arts Studio, Camphill’s dedicated arts-focused Day Support service, where many individuals explore and develop their artistic talents in a professional and supportive environment.
The community maintains strong links with Camphill’s wider initiatives, with residents participating in the My Dream Job Programme and the Voices Group, supporting pathways to employment, self-advocacy and personal development.

Every programme at Dunshane is designed to support individuality, confidence and meaningful participation. Through creativity, farming, practical learning and wellbeing supports, individuals are empowered to explore interests, develop skills and participate fully within community life.
Pottery, basketry, painting and candle making fill Dunshane’s workshops with colour and imagination. Creative programmes encourage self expression, focus and the joy of creating something unique and meaningful.
The kitchen is a warm and social environment where individuals learn practical cooking skills, prepare meals and develop confidence through shared experiences using produce grown on campus.
Gardens and polytunnels are central to life at Dunshane. Individuals learn organic growing, composting and sustainable cultivation while working together throughout the changing seasons.
The working farm creates opportunities for hands on learning through caring for animals, planting crops and participating in the rhythms of the land. Farm life encourages responsibility, confidence and belonging.
