Be Part of Something Meaningful

Volunteering with Camphill Communities of Ireland offers a unique opportunity to make a genuine difference while becoming part of a vibrant and inclusive community.

Our volunteers play an important role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. By sharing your time, skills, and enthusiasm, you help create supportive environments where individuals can grow in independence, confidence, and connection.

Volunteering with Camphill is more than giving your time — it is an opportunity to learn, build relationships, and experience community life in a way that is both personally rewarding and deeply impactful.

We welcome volunteers from Ireland, as well as participants joining us through our established volunteer pathways from Europe.

Types of Volunteering Opportunities

Local Volunteering in Ireland

Local volunteers support Camphill communities across Ireland in a variety of ways. Opportunities vary depending on the needs of each community and may include:

Supporting daily activities in residential homes, Assisting with day service programmes and community activities, Helping with arts, crafts, and creative workshops, Supporting gardening, farming, or nature-based projects, Assisting with social events and community initiatives

Local volunteering is ideal for individuals who want to contribute to their local community while gaining meaningful experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.

Volunteer Programme from Germany

Camphill Communities of Ireland works closely with partners in Germany to welcome volunteers through structured programmes such as IJFD (Internationaler Jugendfreiwilligendienst) and similar pathways.

These programmes allow young people from Germany to spend a year living and volunteering in a Camphill community in Ireland. Volunteers become part of daily community life and gain valuable experience supporting individuals in residential and day service environments.

Participants are supported throughout their placement with orientation, guidance, and practical support to help them settle into community life.

For these placements, accommodation and meals are typically provided within the community.

This programme offers participants the opportunity to gain valuable life experience, develop new skills, and immerse themselves in Irish culture while contributing to inclusive community living.
