Camphill Dunshane is a vibrant, rural residential service supporting adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling, connected lives within a peaceful and inclusive countryside setting. Located in Brannockstown, Co. Kildare (Eircode: W91 XV5T), just outside Naas and Kilcullen, the community forms part of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s unique person-centred model of shared living, working and learning.
Set across several acres of beautiful farmland, Dunshane offers a rich and nurturing environment where residents are closely connected to nature and community life. The site includes a working farm with sheep, cows and chickens, alongside vegetable gardens and allotments maintained with the support of an on-site gardener, creating meaningful opportunities for engagement, responsibility and wellbeing.
The community provides a homely and supportive environment across a number of residential houses and units, Dunshane House, Teach na Gréine, Moon Cottage, Dunnanor, and Silver Birch, where residents are encouraged to develop independence, build relationships and pursue their personal goals.
A key feature of Dunshane is its strong connection to the Northern Region Day Support Services, with a dedicated on-site Day Support Centre. Residents also attend additional Day Supports in The Bridge and Grangebeg, providing a wide range of opportunities for participation, learning and development.
Day Support activities include: Cookery and life skills, Social gardening and social farming, Arts and crafts, Weaving and basketry, Pottery and candle making, Community outings and recreational activities
Residents are highly active and engaged, regularly participating in a variety of programmes and initiatives including the Camphill Choir and the Dunshane Drama Group, as well as wider community activities and events. This strong emphasis on creativity, inclusion and participation supports each individual to live a meaningful and enriched life.
